What is a Dental Veneer?
Veneers are wafer-thin pieces of porcelain that are adhered to the front of a tooth. They are designed to improve the shape, symmetry and colour of your teeth to give you a more uniform smile.
One of the benefits of veneers is that they are custom-made to suit your unique smile. Crafted in a dental laboratory, the colour, shape and size of veneers can be customized so that they blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.
Another benefit of porcelain veneers is their longevity. If cared for properly, dental veneers can last for many years.
The Process of Porcelain Veneers
If you choose to get porcelain veneers, your dentist will begin by removing a thin layer of enamel from the front of the affected tooth.
Then, they will take a mould of the affected teeth, which is used to create your custom veneers. While you wait for your veneers, your dentist may place temporary ones.
Once your permanent veneer has been created, we will book your next appointment. At this appointment, your dentist evaluates the fit, shape, and colour of the veneers to make sure they meet your goals and expectations.
To attach the veneers, your dentist will apply a mild chemical to your tooth to score the surface and make it easier for the veneer to adhere to. Then, they will use a composite resin cement to attach the veneer to your tooth.
