What is Restorative Dental Care?
The goal of restorative dental care is to get your teeth working and looking like new again.
When our dentists repair problems like missing or damaged teeth, they are restoring your overall oral health and wellness. Missing teeth can result in teeth surrounding the gap shift out of place resulting in misalignments that can be difficult to clean between. Excess buildup of plaque and bacteria on misaligned or damaged teeth can lead to infections which can make you sick.
Using our available dental technology, our dentists will be able to diagnose your dental concern and determine which restorative treatment option may be right for you.
Root Canals
During a root canal, your dentist will remove diseased and decayed blood vessels, nerves and other tissues from the interior of a tooth. By removing this material, they can help save the tooth from needing to be extracted and stop infection from spreading.
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a customizable, protective cap that can be placed over a damaged or decayed tooth to prevent further deterioration. They can also be attached to a dental implant to create a natural-looking tooth replacement or they can be placed as an anchor for a dental bridge.
Dental Fillings
If a tooth has decayed, cracked, or broken, our dentists will use silver amalgam or tooth-coloured composite fillings to repair it. Fillings are relatively strong and can withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing. Because of their colour, amalgam fillings are most commonly used on back teeth.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are tooth replacements made to replace a number of missing teeth in a row. These bridges are bonded to existing teeth or dental crowns on either side of the empty space to 'bridge' the gap. Because they are custom-made, bridges are designed to blend into your existing smile so that they are barely noticeable.
Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and onlays can be used to repair rear teeth with mild to moderate decay or cracked and fractured teeth that are not sufficiently damaged to need a crown. A dental inlay is similar to a filling – it fits the cusps (top edges) of a tooth. While inlays are confined to the cusps, onlays can cover one or more cusps and even extend down the sides of the tooth.
Full & Partial Dentures
Dentures are artificial teeth used to replace one or more missing teeth in a row or a full jaw of teeth. Dentures can help protect your remaining natural teeth, maintain your ability to speak and chew and preserve your facial structure. They are created in a dental laboratory and are custom-fitted to your mouth and will be made to match your existing teeth.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull. If a problem develops in this hinge, it can cause you pain in your face and jaw muscles. Our dentists can test for, diagnose and provide a treatment plan for TMJ disorder.
