Oral Surgery to Treat Dental Conditions
Oral surgery includes the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases, injuries and defects of the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, teeth and jaws.
While our dentists will always try to use the least invasive treatment possible for a given dental problem, in some cases, less invasive treatment options are simply not sufficient and oral surgery is required.
These procedures are often required as a result of dental damage or tooth decay.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is used as a base for a tooth replacement. Our dentists may use a dental implant together with a restoration such as a crown or a bridge as part of the process of replacing missing teeth.
Tooth Extractions
While saving a natural tooth is always preferable, there are some cases where it's not possible. If a tooth is too badly damaged due to decay, gum disease or injury, it may need to be removed by your dentist to protect your oral health.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of an adult mouth. If these teeth end up causing problems for your oral health and hygiene, your dentist may recommend removing them to prevent further issues.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy is when your dentist eliminates your frenum, which is the small piece of tissue that connects your cheeks, tongue or lips to your gum area. This procedure is typically performed when the frenum is restricting the function of your mouth or tongue and it can be performed in people of all ages.
